Eshott Hall

From the moment you turn off a quiet English winding county road, through  iron gates almost hidden amongst the foliage and see an impressive building past a tree lined drive, you know you have arrived at the 17th Century Georgian Manor called Eshott Hall. Set in 500 acres with a tennis court and walled garden, this stylish peaceful place is perfectly located for the first four days of our "Secret Kingdom" experience and I am thrilled indeed that Northumbria Trails has been able to secure exclusive use of such a splendid property.

Entirely unique, I really love Eshott Hall for its gracious and eclectic rooms. The library and drawing room have the most intricate and detailed timber carved ceilings I have ever seen and a beautiful contemporary hallway and stunning stained glass adorned staircase ensure a very elegant  arrival. Contemporary en-suite bedrooms, individually themed, all offer magnificent views over the estate's walled garden, arboretum and formal gardens. My goodness who wouldn't want to stay here? True Luxury!

Our personal chef will produce organic and delightful cuisine using many ingredients grown in the kitchen's own "Walled Garden" allowing us to experience relaxed ' English Country House' dinner parties.

BRIEF HISTORY OF ESHOTT

Northumbria Trails Historical Vacations Eshott Hall Drawing Room PictureThere are records which date back to the estate formation in 1310; as with all good stories, confiscation from the Crown, death, marriage and inheritance are included. Between 1588 and 1600, Robert Trollope designed and built the original Hall for William Carr. It is this design with modifications that stands today. In the century that followed, extravagance, collapsing dynasties and death all add colour to the history. In 1877 the Hall and estates were purchased by Emerson Bainbridge, the man who was responsible for the world's first department store
His legacy today is the John Lewis partnership, equivalent to 'Bloomingdales' in the USA. Today we are thrilled that the grace and grandeur of this stylish 17th Century  Manor  is available to Northumbria Trails in our pursuit of following the echoes of the Secret Kingdom!
