Price and Itinerary

 DAY 1        THE  ARRIVAL - Monday

You will arrive with personal transportation from Northumbria Trails, by individual arrangement, be greeted at the "Manor" and enjoy afternoon tea including strawberries and champagne. At night, a welcome introduction cocktail and dinner party including our experts to start the week.

DAY 2     A  ROYAL CASTLE - Tuesday

An exhilarating day to experience the majestic ALNWICK CASTLE (of Harry Potter fame) and THE ALNWICK GARDEN (one of the UK's top 10 attractions) in the capable hands of our specialist guide. Morning will be spent at the Castle perusing it's magnificent furniture and collection of Italian renaissance art, then lunch in the famous 'Tree House'.
With time to wander and explore the charming market town of Alnwick complete with local arts and crafts of the region we will return  to the Castle  in the afternoon to explore the expansive delights of the gardens including the Duchesses favorite part 'the poison garden' before returning to enjoy the delights of the Manor followed by cocktails and dinner.

DAY 3  GRAND HOUSES AND MOST HAUNTED CASTLES - Wednesday

A saunter through the perfectly preserved delights of Victorian CRAGSIDE and its gardens to be enjoyed with our expert. This was the home of inventor Lord Armstrong and the first place in the world to be powered by hydro electricity.
After lunch a couple of miles further down the coastline we will encounter the quaint hamlet of Craster before taking a short stroll along the magnificent coastal pathway leading to DUNSTANBURGH CASTLE. Then it's a return back to the "Manor "for a relaxing afternoon high tea before we embark on a short journey to the infamous " CHILLINGHAM CASTLE" (the most haunted Castle in England ) arriving at dusk for cocktails in the Great Hall  followed by our escorted GHOST WALK AND TALK.  Returning for a late night supper at the Manor.

DAY 4   COASTLINE, ANCIENT CASTLES AND AN ENCHANTED ISLE - Thursday

A true coastline and castle day beginning with the spectacular beach location of BAMBURGH CASTLE, enhanced and assisted by our private guide. Lunch in Bamburgh with time to absorb its charms (one of the UK's top 10 prettiest villages).Then a short drive to encounter an enchanted Isle. Entering the "HOLY ISLAND" of LINDISFARNE via the coastal causeway we will uncover the secrets of the PRIORY and CASTLE on this mystical isle. Appreciating Lindisfarne, a famous landmark known as the English "Cradle of Christianity" requires no religious heritage and we shall also learn here of the iconic LINDISFARNE GOSPELS.
This busy day out is rounded off with our last bespoke dinner at the Manor  in the company of our local experts and musical entertainment from the Northumbrian Pipes.

DAY 5   THE HISTORICAL CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE - Friday

Wandering the cobbled streets of Newcastle Quayside, a famous landmark, we have sweeping panoramic views of the six bridges which cross the river Tyne. We will take in Newcastle "Keep" built during the reign of Henry 11 and the oldest surviving house in the city. A short walk across the acclaimed "Millennium Bridge" and we find the "Sage" with futuristic architecture next to the "Baltic," the largest contemporary art gallery of its kind in the world. Following a leisurely lunch to take in all of these sights on the Tyne we will arrive late afternoon at our luxury Medieval Castle Hotel in time for tea, scones and relaxation before cocktails and dinner at the Castles' Josephine Restaurant.

DAY 6   GONE TO THE WALL - Saturday

This morning is the start of a wonderful adventure accompanied by our amazing expert to discover THE ROMAN WALL; a military monument spanning the entire North of England that marked the northern boundary of the Roman Empire. Begun by the Emperor Hadrian in AD 122 it has been a World Heritage site since 1987, testimony to "the glory that was Rome". Interspersed by lunch and coffee breaks the clear air of the Northumbrian Countryside is sure to build up an appetite for cocktails and fine dining in our Castle.

DAY 7   DURHAM CATHEDRAL - Sunday

Today we visit the innovative architectural and magnificence of" DURHAM CATHEDRAL," recognized as a World Heritage site not only for its spiritual and architectural excellence but its political importance too. Lunch, then a chance to stroll along the winding streets of Durham Town to drink in the atmosphere before returning for a farewell dinner with all the trimmings and the ensemble of the "Northumbria Trails' team in our Castle.

DAY 8  THE FAREWELL - Monday

Alas, after breakfast we say goodbye, for the time being, and Northumbria Trails will, by arrangement, transport you to your departure point to enable you to continue your vacation or return home, whichever it may be.
